Today’s the day my life begins.
Today I become a citizen of the world.
Today I become a grown up.
Today I become accountable to someone other than myself and my parents.
Accountable for more than my grades.
Today I become accountable to the world, to the future, to all the possibilities life has to offer.
Starting today, my job is to show up, wide-eyed and willing and ready.
For what? For anything. For everything.
To take on life. To take on love. To take on the responsibility and possibility.
Today my friends our lives begin and I for one, can’t wait.

Grey’s Anatomy
Aptly put… this quote was taken from one of the recent Grey’s Anatomy episodes where one of the patients was a valedictorian for her graduation ceremony that day.
As of today, I am officially an Nanyang Technological University graduate with a B. Eng (Hons) in Computer Science. Results were actually out at midnight, but then, I was on a bus ride back home. Wonderful feeling to know that this semester, I did alot better than the previous semesters. Kinda hard to believe that I’m actually pulling up my CGPA with final year subjects, huh? My FYP… gosh… it’s like a total turnaround! Sometime in March, I was on the verge of freaking out coz… well… it was in a mess…. a HUGE MESS! Somehow, by some wonder of God, I managed to secure a B+. Better than expected. Ironically, the subject which I spent the least time in lectures, assignments and mugging for exams, the grade was the best of all my core modules. How disgusting! Does that imply I should skip more lectures, put less effort in assignments and study one day before the paper? Oh well, doesn’t apply anymore. I’ve graduated remember???? Yaye!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok… fine.. so big deal… what’s next? Job applications… So al little update on the status of my job applications. I’ve literally sent in so many applications that I don’t really wanna look at my resume ever again. Buttering up myself in cover letters and resumes kinda puts me off. No choice la… I’ve been degraded to a trading item. Want a job? Sell yourself.
Just yesterday, I was invited to attend a briefing for the SMRT Management Trainee Programme. Little did I know till I was already there, that the “briefing” was actually an opportunity for the SMRT HR staff to observe us. “Games” were actually tools to test our teamwork, a mini debate to probably check out our analytical skills, our response to on the spot bombarding…. does seem like a stress meter…. as well as the Q&A to see how we presented ourselves and our ideas. The most stressful “briefing” I’ve been to so far, considering I wasn’t prepared for this at all…. but it was good in a sense… got to know a bunch of new aquaintences and got a very much detailed account of essence of the program and the company. I’m glad I got invited. Apparently, 2000 over ppl submitted their resumes. My briefing was the last batch of about 30-40 people. Now, don’t tell me they repeated that same briefing 50 times! Errr.. I don’t think so…. so, probably people there at the briefing were already somewhat shortlisted. Another round of shorlisting was done during the event itself, and all we can do is cross our fingers for a phone call or an email from them for an interview within the next 1 month. Maybe I’ll cross my toes too, just in case.
Right now, what at home? I’m going to learn how to cook!
Must go and find my cooking shifu sometime soon. I just ate some of her beef pies this afternoon… Now, that’s something I must know how to make on my own when I’m craving for really good food! Anyway, I need some of her excellent cooking expertise to keep myself pacified with good home cooked food. That’s the problem with staying out on your own. Nobody to cook food for you. You want to eat? You cook yourself! Time to start compiling my own recipe book!
I have also instructed Miss Piggy to learn some classic Indian dishes from her mom while she’s rotting at home. YES! I’m dreaming of the curries, chutneys, pratas, chappatis, naans…. ooooo… list goes on forever! But this being Paro’s first go at proper cooking, I’ll be more realistic. If I get food poisoning, you know who to fine $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000??
