As of 29.09.2009, I am a proud owner of the highly sought after Lumix LX3!
This camera is always sold out islandwide. So hard to get my hands on it… Every shop I called told me it was out of stock. Grrrrrrrrrrr… but finally, I popped by MS Color at AMK Hub yesterday and found out that they had a few units in that day. What next? Book lah! Got it the very next day after sleeping over it. Got it for $690 (cash only) with the following freebies:
- 3rd party battery
- 8GB Kingston SDHC card
- Screen protector
Added on a few accessories myself… the lens adaptor tube, a Tokina UV filter and a Hoya circular polarizing filter. Vibrant blue skies here I come!!!!!!!!
First few shots:
So far, I’m loving every bit of my new toy… Mid-Autumn Festival is coming up soon… Meaning, more photo opportunities! Wheeeeeeee…. Till then, envy me and drool at your computer screen.

One month has passed by without me posting anything here… should I consider giving up this domain? Hmmm… think about it another time. So, what have I been up to?
I’m finally back in Singapore again. For 3 weeks I was back home in Malaysia coz my grandma was suddenly hospitalized due to pneumonia. It seemed pretty bad according to the doctor, so we all rushed back to Ipoh for a visit. She was placed in an isolation ward and one of us had to accompany her throughout the night coz she was afraid to stay alone there. Mumzie took 3 nites and I took the last 2. Thankfully, she took a turn for the better the moment she heard we were all coming back to see her. Once discharged, my family weren’t really keen on letting her stay at home alone while everyone had to get back to work, so I ended up extending my stay another 1 week in Ipoh with my grandparents. It was pretty agonizing for me without the Internet… which partly explains the looooooooong period of silence. I’m pretty much addicted to the Internet these days. Although we managed to get my grandpa to buy a laptop and sign up for Streamyx, the Streamyx fellas sure took their own sweet time to come and install it. A supposedly 3 day wait easily became a 1 week one. Thankfully, now all Malaysian phone lines are dial-up ready… meaning… I do have access to the Internet… but at dreadfully slow rates at 4 cents a minute. Better than nothing.
A random note, I’m sick of eating salmon. Hahaha…. I’ve been eating that almost everyday in Ipoh. I like it though… give me a few weeks without it and I’ll pop over to NTUC to buy some to cook again. I’ve discovered glorious tasting, not so salty soya sauce!!! Muahahaha…. My grandpa says it’s the finest quality kind and only supplied to certain restaurants…hard to get…. and he calls me “dai hou gou” which literally translates to “big mouth dog” coz I wanted to bring some back to Singapore. Heeheehee… Well… overall, I had a pretty good time back home… good food.. family.. and slacking.
My grandma was feeling extra generous this round and offered to buy me a new camera as a graduation gift when she saw me playing with Dad’s… Ultra cool or what!!!! My grandparents rock!! YAYE! Muahahahahahaha… Tempted to buy an DSLR… but currently, I find that pretty useless. I don’t see myself lugging that big elephant of a thing around everywhere. I think it would make more sense to get a good compact now… and then get a DSLR later on for my more creative, artistic needs.
So instead… I was eyeing the Panasonic Lumix DMC- LX3. It’s one of the most popular prosumers around. Many pros have claimed it to be one of the best in it’s league and complements the DSLR nicely. Of course I’ve done my own homework and googled everywhere for sample images. Check these links out:

Pretty neat for such a little camera eh? There’s plenty more to prove it on Flickr if you just search for “lx3″. Can’t wait to get my hands on it…

What kind of pictures come to mind when you hear about ballet? I think of romantic tutu dresses (the long kind… not the ultra short ones… ), pointe shoes with ribbons and swans… in sepia!
I can’t say that ballet is something I’ve always wanted to learn, but it has been something I have been curious about. My parents never sent me for ballet lessons when I was younger, but rather piano and violin lessons. I’m not complaining though, coz I absolutely LOVE playing the piano, even though I’m no music maestro. It probably never really crossed their minds as it didn’t seem like a very popular skill to learn then… well at least compared to learning the piano. I never really persued it anyway, coz I thought I was way too old to learn…. until yesterday.
Siew Kee and I were sharing how boring and empty our lives are at this moment. Work for her… job hunting for me. That’s pretty much it. How dull! We decided that we wanted to find some activity to do… Things like ballroom dancing (Siew Kee’s totally gaga over the Foxtrot!!), pilates or belly dancing. We headed to the nearest community center (just next door to our house!) to check out the schedules. Very much to our dismay, most of the stuff we wanted to learn had already started or “wasn’t suitable for us” as the uncle there put it… coz it was meant for senior citizens! (OMG!!!! Kee and I are interested in senior citizen stuff!!!! *peng*)
Anyway, cut long story short, we found out from the onePA website that ballet lessons for adult beginners were offered. How interesting! So…. so what? We joined lah!! At first Mumzie and Dad was horrified by the fees ($120), coz they thought that it was a monthly thing… hahaa… no la.. it’s a one-off payment for the whole course, from Sept to December! Anyway, they let me join… YAYE! Thank you thank you thank you!
Mumzie’s amused by the thought of me doing a pirouette and dressed in a tutu skirt. *roll eyes* There she goes again… letting her imagination go wild… haha. Pls… I’m not wearing any tutu skirt. I’m just learning for the fun of it and of course the muscle toning benefits.
Can’t wait for classes to start!
P/S: Happy Birthday, Malaysia!
