Tendered my resignation today. I feel like a mountain’s been lifted. I can’t wait for the time where I can truly enjoy my evenings and precious weekends. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

On the side note, I bought piano polish for my Clavi today… it’s been collecting lots of dust… now the ebony finish is all shiny again. Fantastic.

Next task… polish my flute sparkling silver again. I think it might be due for servicing… never sent it in ever since I bought it. :S

In hope of better things to come

Friday, December 11th, 3:46 amFeelingsRSS 2.0

4 years ago, I was a much happier person. Things seem so much simpler. Adulthood has a knack for complicating everything. Things don’t always turn out as you plan (… so don’t bother to plan?). I’ve been in this ‘new but not so new’ phase of my life for awhile now… and I’m not liking it. University has hardly prepared me for the REAL world. Face it. The REAL world is really a truckload of crap for you each day. Now I know.

I’ve been having this dilemma for quite awhile. My heard says “For goodness sake go ahead and do it tml!”… but yet I’m hesitant. Coz deep down, I feel guilty. That’s why the past few weeks have been turmoil for me. I’m not the kind to cry coz most of the time, I sleep over my anger and frustrations… but this time, I just couldn’t help it but to let it all out. You cannot imagine how horrible I feel till you experience it yourself.

Anyway… tml will be THE DAY….  The day I tell the world I’m weak and cannot take it anymore. I picked up my Bible today after quite some time of abandonment. A little dust collected on it shows how long I haven’t picked it up to read (… and had the time to clean my room!!!!! EWH!!!). Isaiah 40:31 says, ” but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” I hope the day after tomorrow will be a day where I will get to start over… in hope of better things to come.

Awesome Halloween Party 2009

Saturday, October 31st, 7:19 pmEvents, FriendsRSS 2.0

Halloween this year was a more private affair. Last year, I went clubbing at Double O with Paro and her friends… crazily crowded. Not my kind of scene. This year, Dawei hosted a party for his friends. Limited ppl but so much more fun! Rented a service apartment at Dhoby Ghaut and played the night away!

Games were awesome… we had this little green man sitting on your cup game throughout the night… so every time we drink from a cup, we have to say “excuse me” *pick up the little man and put him away* before drinking and “thank you” *put back the little man on the cup* after we’re done. Failing to do so, drink as punishment…

Another game that went on the whole night was the green peg thing. We just secretly peg it on each other and count to ten. If the person can’t find it on himself, he has to drink.

The whole night, we assumed each other’s names… so if u call the wrong name… mati la u… hahah….. DRINK! Most of the time, all of us were sabo-ing Dawei… Muahahaha…

Other games were like balloon stomping, a trivia, beer pong (that’s like throwing the ping pong ball in your opponent’s beer cups), zombie (basically hide and seek in the dark), and a beer guzzling race.

Theresia, Dawei, Audrey and I ended up staying over at the service apartment coz it was already pretty late and someone needs to help Dawei with the cleaning up the next morning…

Good thing my tolerance for alcohol is pretty high… if not… habis la me… had to drink so much! I don’t think I’ve ever drank so much in one night. Anyway, I went prepared… gobbled down an Auntie Anne’s  pretzel, Canadian pizza and drank plenty of water before going. So, not much of a hangover for me. (So, tips for you all yeah… HYDRATE yourself plenty and EAT before u go guzzling gallons of alcohol! ;) ) Thanks Dawei for organizing such and awesome party! We had so much fun! And it’s always great to get to know new ppl. ;)

Here’s our group photo we took towards the end of the party… most of our costumes gone by then…

da:ns Festival @ The Esplanade

Sunday, October 25th, 3:19 amEvents, Outings, PhotographyRSS 2.0

Well… let’s see what I’ve been doing of late… not blogging that’s for sure.

Last week I went to check out the da:ns Festival at the Esplanade with Siew Kee and Jimmy. Yaye for free performances! :D Got to see some pretty interesting cultural dances, specifically Thailand and the Philippines. We also watched this salsa dance thing where girls were clad in skimpy, short, skin-tight dresses and fish net stockings… but let’s not talk about that…. Next thing you know, all the guys there start to nose bleed! Hahahah… kidding.

See what I mean?

I was hoping to see those twirly whirly long sharp nails that some Thai dancers wear but no luck for me. Nevertheless, it was still interesting to watch. Their dance isn’t really a dance per se… it’s more like an act based on some epic… Ramakien my guess? I dunno… Their costumes are quite elaborate and some masks look pretty evil.

The Philippine dancers put up something which was somewhat lighter and more festive. Simple folk dances that even the audience can follow.

That night was mostly spent watching the dances as well as taking pictures… lemme share with you one of my pics which I think looks fabulous!! … well at least to me. :P

LX3 Film Mode Review & Test Shots

Saturday, October 17th, 3:35 pmPhotography, ReviewsRSS 2.0

One interesting feature other than the usual S, A, M, iA and scene modes on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3  is the Film Mode. This mode gives the photographer an option to choose from 6 colour modes and 3 black and white modes. Contrast, saturation, sharpness and noise reduction can be tweaked manually to suite the mood you want. So, you can take anything from vibrant photos full of energy to dreamy nostalgic looking ones. Kinda like using different kinds of film on a film camera. On top of that, there are 2 custom modes, My Film 1 and My Film 2, provided for user-defined settings. There is also a Multi Film mode which does something like bracketing… for 3 different film modes of course. This comes in handy if say you can’t make up your mind which mode choose.

Lots of people wonder… why bother when this camera can shoot in RAW? Well for me, despite having greater control during post-processing, RAW converters don’t render the JPEG as well as the camera’s JPEG engine. Especially at higher ISO levels, much color noise is produced. So, if I’m lazy to do post-processing, I’ll just shoot in JPEG format…. which is not bad at all coz I save plenty of time!
