Picking up my flute again…

Friday, December 18th, 7:03 pmMusicRSS 2.0

Ugh… as I mentioned in my previous post, my flute is kinda tarnished and needs polishing… but I’m lazy. I hate polishing it. The mechanism of the flute just makes it a pain to polish. But oh well… like I have a choice.

Anyway, grumbling over.

Yesterday, I popped by Yamaha at Plaza Singapura to check out the instruments and some books and I found out that they actually offer a Clavinova course. It’s a 10 lesson course which supposedly teaches you how to use the functions and all the complicated buttons found on the piano. Now that’s something I might consider taking sometime. Had the CVP-109 for 2 years already, but I still haven’t figured out all the interesting stuff it can do. Reading the manual is just too boring.

Also got some info on the flute lessons that they offer. Seriously thinking of picking up the flute again. I don’t know if my technique is right or wrong… after all… my flute playing is kinda self taught. I did notice the sound quality got better after I removed my braces… better clarity in the tone… but still, I have lots more to work on… especially my breathing and articulation. Oh dear God, do give me the opportunity to get proper lessons someday. Anyway, right now, I’m an unofficial Berklee student. Hahahaha… bought this book at Trumpet Praise yesterday:

Now that I’m jobless once again, I can spend more time blogging about the birds and the sky.

Firstly I shall talk about my loot from the ever so precious shopping opportunities I got over the past few weeks.

Last week… (hmm…or was it last last week??)… I did a little Christmas shopping. Don’t ask me what I was doing at City Hall that day, coz I totally can’t recall…. (oh no!!! my brain cells are dying already!!) but anyway, this is something I got… Poooooooooooooooooooky… :D

yeah… Garfield’s teddy. Just for the fun of it. Coz I was amused by that name in Victor/Victoria. Siew Kee knows what I mean. :P Right Sieeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwww Keeeeeeeeeeeeee? Got some other stuff for my sister… which shall remain… a secret. :P

Few days back, I was just randomly walking around in AMK Hub after a long day at work… just walking walking walking till the shops were about to close. I stopped by SK Jewellery without any intentions to buy anything… (but now you see the dangers of window shopping?!! arrgghh!!) but I laid eyes on this cross with a simple diamond in the center. Few years back, for my 21st birthday, Mumzie gave me some money to go buy myself a key pendant… but I stupidly spent that money all away on I dunno what. I thought, buying a key would be pretty useless now that I’m way past 21… so why not get something more classic. Something I would be able to wear for the rest of my life. Recently, I’ve also been feeling pretty distant spiritually, partly because I haven’t been to church in ages. I wanted to get myself a cross as a reminder that my God is a faithful God and will be with me always, even though I might forget Him at times.

So here’s my first shiny rock…

Pretty?

Next part of this post shall be about food… glorious food!

Met up with Husain and SC last Tuesday night at Vivocity… and because Husain can only eat halal food, we decided to try out this Indonesian restaurant, Garuda Padang Cuisine. Rendanggggggg!!!!! We had rendang everything. Hahaha… chicken and beef. We also got some brinjal and pergedel thingy… the price was pretty surprising, as in good surprising. Theresia said it’s pretty authentic Indonesian food. Well, she should know since it’s her country… which reminds me… I want my Yasmeen nasi kandar and Pak Tuan roti canai!!!!

Then, just today, I met up with Sam to go eat crabs at Melben. This place is really famous for the long queues and waiting time. But the food was nice. We ordered one crab bee hoon and one butter crab. Very very filling. Dunno how Sam can gobble up the food so fast. Can order extra plate of man tou summore. But the man tou there kinda sucks… When it reaches your table, it’s not fresh and piping hot. Kinda cold and chewy. Next time must go with more ppl so that we can order more dishes… I heard the Mongolian pork ribs are nice… Last time I had pretty good Mongolian pork ribs was at Dian Xiao Er with my extended family last (or was it last last?) Dec.

So there, drool at the rich creamy bee hoon soup and thick buttery sauce with a hint of spice from the curry leaves… YUM!

Habislah…. gemuklah aku…. tml run 10 rounds round Ang Mo Kio Hill. >.<

So that’s all the updates for now…

Till next time, toodles! ;)

Once upon a time, there was this little girl who was a cheerful and cute little thing. This little girl walks to school every day. One day, it looked like it was going to rain, so her mummy gave her an umbrella. On the way to school, it didn’t rain after all. However, on her way home after school, not only did it rain, it was a thunderstorm! Lightning flashed and thunder shook the earth. Her mummy got worried as her little girl was out there in the heavy rain. So she decided to drive along the route her daughter took to school and fetch her home. As she drove along the road, she saw her daughter walking under the umbrella. Just then, lightning flashed! The little girl looked up to the sky, and smiled. When there was lightning again, again, she looked up and smiled to the sky. She saw her mummy’s car and got in quickly. The mummy was really puzzled and asked her little girl,

“Why’d you smile when the lightning flashed, darling?”

“Why, God’s taking pictures of me!”

What a sweetheart. :)

If God had a wallet, guess whose picture would be in it?

Yours.
