Ramblings of a bored person.

It’s been slightly over a week since I’ve been back home. On my last day in Singapore, I went to meet myFYP prof to get some things settled. Very much to my delight, he was fine with letting me go home and do my work. I don’t have to stay in Singapore the entire hols. Yaye! So, I went to the bus station to collect my bus ticket to Ipoh the very same night! Haha…. Yeah… totally ignoring my painful back and leg… I hopped onto that 10pm bus and reached Ipoh at 6am the next morning.

It’s lovely to be back. Especially Ipoh…. where all the GOOOOOOOOD food is. :P

Spent most of our time there shopping… my cousins were back too. Come to think of it… despite being a retirement town, Ipoh sure has more places to go shopping than this miserable Alor Star town I’m in right now. I’m bored to death! Tried doing some shopping here… came back pretty much empty handed. (…unless groceries and Christmas tree decorations count.)

I have a little trouble finding Christmas gifts here. Nothing to buy really. I really should have done my shopping in Singapore before I came back. But poor me was pretty broke then. I came back to Malaysia with S$20 and a little purse of coins in RM. That’s the problem with Christmas. At the end of the semester…. where I’m left with that weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bit of cash to go for post exams outings and eating out. Nothing’s much is left. Must I really buy presents? I find it so obligatory nowadays. I just buy them coz someone or the other is bound to give me a present and it looks bad if I’m just on the receiving end. I could do without presents from other people really. Most of the things I want… I buy. Most of the things I get… I don’t really want or need. I don’t like just giving random things to people either. I like putting some thought into them… but with the limited amount of $$ and stuff for sale here in this little town, sadly, looks like that has to go.

In the meantime, how am I wasting away my time? Well, I’m trying to work on my FYP… yes… that Evolutionary Music what-not. It’s so hard!!! I have the ideas there… but translating that into Java code is not a joke. It’s difficult! Everyday I try to get something done… I said TRY. Whether it works out is another matter. Other than that, I’ve been watching movies… ermmm… reading books… I’ve finished Sidney Sheldon’s Nothing Lasts Forever, and so I’m halfway through Agatha Christie’s One, Two, Buckle My Shoe. I think I’ve finally gotten the hang of reading again. Just before I came back home, I finished Frederick Forsyth’s The Phantom of Manhattan. Quite an interesting read. It’s supposed to be a sequel to Gaston Leroux’s Phantom of the Opera. Next on the list will be the Twilight saga. My sis bought the whole set… so maybe I’ll try read as much as I can before going back to Singapore.

p/s: My back and leg are alot better now…  I still have some steroids and vitamins to finish up… but hardly feel the pain anymore. It does feel weird occasionally and because of that I walk a little funny… Anyway, beats limping about in shopping complexes. Haha! Thanks for the concern and prayers. :)

Love, Debbie...
