You wouldn’t believe the number of books we bought today! Paro and I went to Orchard today coz I wanted to check out the Creaking Keepsakes magazine in Borders or Kinokuniya. She also wanted to spend off her Popular Bookstore vouchers. Kino is like a reader’s heaven (…provided we don’t have to pay for the books. Otherwise, it is capable of making you totally broke!). Initially, we planned to go pick out come books and browse through them at the cafe there. But aparently, they don’t allow browsing there anymore. In this aspect, Borders is much more generous. I was checking out the piano scores there. Plenty! More than I can imagine. But it’s sooooooooooooooo expensive! Most of the books are at least $30. Ok, poor student like me can’t afford to buy. Just look longingly… Haha….
Later on, we checked out some Agatha Christie.
She is one good crime fiction author who has some really beautiful twists in her stories. Do you know that her stories have been adapted to comic books? I didn’t know that till today, but nothing can beat the original thing. Paro picked out a book and was considering for awhile if she should get it. It was a collections of short stories. At last she decided to take it. I too was very tempted to buy one. After all, it’s been a really long time since I picked up a book to read. I think I should start to recultivate reading as a hobby of mine…or rather.. as Paro puts it… a pastime.
After much deliberation, I picked out a book entitled, “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd”. Sounds interesting? I’ve noticed that Agatha Christie sure has many other books with interesting titles, taken from poems, Shakespeare, and nursery rhymes. Anyway, we got our books and scooted off for out dinner.
After dinner, back JP, we popped by Popular to spend off Paro’s vouchers. She spent it on 2 Asterix comics and a 3 in 1 set of Agatha Christie books, which I was supposed to split with her coz she already had 2 of the books. I was supposed to pay her for them but she said I didn’t need to pay her. So, here I am… with another 2 Agatha Christies… :p cool? Haha… So yeah… today, we bought… lemme count… 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6….. 7 books!
